School Induction Programme @ Mahatma Girls High School, Chennithala from 07th to 14th October, 2024

As per the B.Ed. Curriculum, the School Induction Programme was held from 7th October to 14th October 2024. The Induction Programme for me was allotted at the Mahatma High School for Girls, Chennithala in the Alappuzha District with 6 other student teachers. The School Induction Programme is the programme that helps to a series of events and activities that help new student teachers adjust to their new school environment. The School Induction Programme is the opportunity to acquaint with the school environment and its functioning.  This helps the new aspirants by providing information, resources, and motivation to make them more professional and efficient in that field.

The School Induction Team was supervised by Dr Sony Mary Varghese, Assistant Professor at Peet Memorial Training College Mavelikara. The group is allotted to the Mahatma High School for Girls, Chennithala, under the leadership of Archana Suresh. The other team members are Jubi Abey, Anu Mary Wilson, Aishwarya M, Atheena Jailal, Lintu Mohan, and Joyal Joseph. The school induction programme requires 2 Observations, 3 classes (both group teaching and single teaching), and 3 student profiles. 

The First Day of the School Induction Programme was held on 07th October 2024 by submitting a letter to Mrs Sreeja K.G., Headmistress of Mahatma High School for Girls, Chennithala and made an interaction with her. She delivered some guidelines and instructions regarding the school's discipline and curricular and co-curricular activities. The General Assembly was held in the School at 09: 40 am. On this day we introduced a Quiz box which was based on daily questions based on the Subject related to each question prepared by student teachers. I had a combined class with Ms Lintu Mohan in Class IX A and discussed the idea of India by talking about Governance in India. The Student teachers got the opportunity for the Physical education class and substitution class in Class VII A which we played small games by using English words.   

The Second Day of the School Induction Programme was held on 08th October 2024 and started with a prayer Song at 09:40 am. There was a social science class observation in Class IX A which dealt with the role and functions of the Executive in India. We (me and Lintu Mohan) delivered a peer group teaching on the topic ' Economic Thought' in Class VIII A.  The Student teachers delivered an awareness class on Menstruation for High School students. The student teachers distributed the lunch to the students of the Mahatma High School for Girls. 

The Student Teachers initiated the activities of the Post Card Competition for the students as part of  World Postal Day on October 9, 2024. The Student Teachers distributed postcards to students to write postcards to their favourite teachers which created curiosity among students. The current affairs quiz competition from Class VII to IX students at 01:00 PM. The Quiz competition consists of three rounds conducted through pen and paper mode. We entered another observation class in Class IX A on the topic ' Land Grants and Indian Society'. We (Lintu Mohan and I) delivered a peer team teaching on the topic of Economic Thought in Class VIII B. 

The Fourth Day of the School Induction Programme highlights Food Fest under the banner of the National Service Scheme, Career Guidance class for Class X students and the postcard competition (posting cards in modal postcards) The Career Guidance class was delivered by Ms. Jubi Abey (Student Teacher). I delivered a single class on the topic of Economic Thinking under the Chapter Economic Thought in Class VIII A. The Food Fest another programme was held at the School Auditorium at 12:45 pm and inaugurated by Dr Mumtas S (NSS Programme Officer).  Mrs Sreeja K.G. (Headmistress), and Dr Sony Mary Varghese addressed the students. Many students prepared a variety of food and students actively participated in this occasion. 

The Last day of the School Induction Programme was one of the important day that many activities had done. The School Assembly was arranged on 14th October 2024 at 9:40 am. The Sophists Social Science Association of Peet Memorial Training College donated five books to the School Library and the student teachers distributed plants during the School Assembly.  The prizes for the winners of various competitions were announced and distributed by Mr Tony Cherian (Librarian, Peet Memorial Training College) and Mrs Sreeja K.G. (Headmistress). I delivered a single class on the topic of Gandhian Economics under the Chapter Economic Thought in Class VIII A. I received feedback from the students after my class. We made some final preparations for the manuscript magazine and we handed over the Magazine titled 'Dhalam' to the Headmistress. Students and teachers offered casual farewell to us and we took photos with our subject teachers.
